St Cecilia and St Patrick's Church
is on the main A1018 road into Sunderland, just in front of Southmoor
Community School. The original St Cecilia's church opened in 1927 and Fr Hugh O'Connor
built our present church in 1957. The parish amalgamated with St Patrick's
Our community is active and lively, with members of the parish taking part in various ministries. We support one another with prayer and practical help.
Visitors are very welcome. Come and join us for one of our Sunday Masses, and have a cup of coffee in the hall afterwards.
Through our Care Group and St
Vincent de Paul Society, we try to care for those who are lonely, bereaved,
ill, housebound or in need.
We have activities for all ages, ranging from the Mother and Toddler groups through to the Wednesday Afternoon Circle for our older members, craft group, sequence dancing and carpet bowls!
Our Justice and Peace Group helps make us aware of needs throughout the world.
Our church is also a great place for quiet prayer. Why not call in one day soon?
