These Events are for Clergy of the Diocese
(1) An Evening with the Bede Chair of Catholic Theology with input on ‘from Mystic to Missionary; the Catholic Paul’, on Tuesday 30 September, 7.30pm at Ushaw College
A reminder that this is a great opportunity to meet and welcome Professor Louis Ayer to the Diocese.
This event is free but tickets are required and available by contacting Bishop’s House.
(2) An In-Service Training Event at Minsteracres on the theme ‘The Church in the Wilderness’ led by Sr Frances Hogan from Monday 6th October to Wednesday 8th October.
This in service event begins on Monday evening and concludes on the Wednesday afternoon. It provides an opportunity to reflect together in a constructive way on the life and ministry of the priest in the church today.
(3) A Scripture Day looking at the Figure of John the Baptist on Thursday 27th November 10.30am-3.00pm, at Ushaw College.
This day will be led by John Farrell OP. This is designed to help, in the usual way, with preaching in the season of Advent and Christmas.
2009
(1) An Ecumenical event to celebrate the Year of St Paul. The Bishop of Durham, Tom Wright and Prof. J. Dunn will be presenting this Scripture day on the figure of St Paul on Tuesday 27th January 10.30am-9.00pm, at Ushaw College.
This day will also include ecumenical vespers and an evening dinner together.
(2) 10 Intense days in the Holy Land for those who are fit. From Tuesday 21 April until Saturday
2nd May.
A unique opportunity for a small group of priests to join in a guided visit of the Holy Land led by Fr
Henry Wansbrough.
(3) A Diocesan Retreat for all the priests of the Diocese from Monday 25th to Friday 29th May,
at Ushaw College.
In 2009 the Diocesan retreat will be given by the Holy Ghost Father Eamonn MulCahy.
