Churches are uniting in a project taking place at Sunderland International Airshow on 26th and 27th July.
"Risen 08 - flying a cross over Sunderland" is an ecumenical outreach and presence at the Airshow. This will include display stands at Seaburn on 26th and 27th, an exhibition field at St Peter's Church, Monkwearmouth, on 27th, and on the 26th at 6.30-9.00pm there will be a cafe style celebration with celebrity guests..
Risen is a united Churches project celebrating the love of Christ together throughout the City of Sunderland. Here is the prayer the organisers have written:
Prayer for The Sunderland International Airshow
Loving God,
We thank you for the many ways we have seen you at work in your world and in our area of Sunderland.
We thank you for the Churches of this area.
We thank you that amidst variety, different traditoins, styles and ways, we are one
because Jesus Christ is central to who we are.
As the Church of Jesus we pray for the Sunderland International Airshow.
We pray for the work that we as the Churches joined together will be engaged in:
Speaking a kind word, praying for others, giving out gifts and resources, sharing
something of the Good News of the Gospel and making links with people of all ages.
May we be faithful in our witness
to the Glory of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
