Emeritus Bishop Ambrose Griffiths RIP (1928-2011)
Funeral Rites June 30th - July 1st
Bishop Ambrose's body was received into St Mary's Cathedral, Newcastle, on the evening of Thursday 30th June and Mass was celebrated.
Priests and people from across the diocese - and beyond - gathered together to pray for the repose of the Bishop Ambrose Griffiths.
Bishop Seamus gave the homily, and the Cathedral choir provided some uplifting and inspiring music.
The Mass was followed by a Prayer Vigil and Compline.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral at 12 noon on Friday 1 July. The body of Bishop Ambrose will then be taken to Ampleforth Abbey, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday 2 July, followed by burial in the vault under the Abbey church.
