Becoming a Volunteer Ship Visitor
Could you be a Volunteer Ship Visitor in Blyth or Hartlepool?
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me…” Matt 25:36
The Apostleship of the Sea has a long established presence in these ports and we need to sustain this by recruiting volunteers who will be trained and equipped to visit ships in the ports, to provide practical and pastoral help to seafarers on board, many of whom are Catholic.

“I was a stranger and you welcomed me…” Matt 25:36
An interest or knowledge of the sea would be an advantage, but more importantly the ability to meet, greet and converse with seafarers, the vast majority of whom speak English. You will of course need to live within a reasonable distance of the port.
Volunteers give whatever amount of time they can to this interesting and fulfilling work . We also pay incidental expenses.
Could you be a volunteer?
Ongoing training and support will be given plus opportunities to meet colleagues from other ports around the country.
