Fr David Milburn--- Diamond Anniversary NECHS Celebration

On 10th August 2011, at St Andrew's,Worswick Street, Newcastle, about 40 invited guests, all long standing members of the North East Catholic History Society, held a party to honour both the 60th anniversary of Fr David's ordination, and also his loyal, active contribution to the Society since it was founded in 1974.

From 1988 to 2008, he was Chairman. He has delivered many lectures, and written articles for the annual magazine "Northern Catholic History." Lifelong friend, and at one time Secretary of the St Cuthbert's Society, Brian Harvey spoke about Fr David's long association with Ushaw College where he lectured in History and where he became Vice President. Fra' Matthew Festing, Grand Master of the Order of Malta, presented him with a food hamper on behalf of the Society.

Fr David described his love of History and his special affection for Ushaw. The 52nd Edition of NCH which is dedicated to him, includes his article on the College, very aptly titled "Seeking the Higher Things"—Ushaw's search for University affiliation. On September 7th the NECHS AGM Mass will be offered in celebration of Fr David's priesthood. We offer him our congratulations and gratitude for his remarkable service to the North East Catholic History Society.
