Vocations News and Events: Enquirers' Night
Enquirers' Night: Penshaw House of Hospitality, 25 January 07
Ten enquirers attended this meeting, of whom four were attending for their first time. After the initial time of prayer and shared Evening Prayer of the Church, discussion focused on the priest as Leader, inspired by a scriptural focus on Jesus' words about Bad Shepherds, and Himself as the Good Shepherd.
Priesthood was understood as a "laying down of one's life" for Christ and His People - theologically and in practice - and that therefore it could not be seen merely as a job (career/role/status), with all the attendant implications for motivation, life-style, commitment, love, care and service for people in their joys and sorrows, and sensitivity on the part of a priest.
Thereafter a delightful meal was shared by all, as ever.
The next enquirer meeting will take place on Thursday, 15 February, 7-9pm.
