Vocations News and Events: Enquirers' Night
News from the latest enquirer night on 3rd June
At the Enquirers' Evening on 3rd June, Fr Bill O'Gorman joined the group to share the story of his own call to priesthood.
He recalled his childhood in rural Ireland, his experiences in seminary, and the shock of arriving in England for the first time, to take up his appointment at St Cecilia's, Sunderland.
Fr O'Gorman spoke very frankly of the changes in the Church after the Second Vatican Council, and the challenges of adapting to a different understanding of Church and priesthood.
His joy in priesthood shone through in his words, even after more than 50 years of service, and so did his deep faith and wisdom.
Monthly Enquirers' Nights are held at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Penshaw. Each evening begins at 7pm with prayer. This is followed by a period of reflection and a meal together. Meetings end at 9pm.
The next Enquirers' Evening is on Thursday 2nd July at 7.00pm. Bishop Seamus will be present and will celebrate Mass with us.
