Vocations Mass 2019

As part of the Dowry Tour of Our Lady of Walsingham, a Mass was celebrated by Fr. Christopher Warren (Diocesan Vocations Director) on Friday 25 October, concelebrated by priests of the Diocese praying for priestly vocations. Bishop Robert was present at the Mass and gave the blessing at the end. Many people gathered for this Mass at which Father Christopher reminded us of the importance to encourage the young men of our parishes to think seriously and listen carefully to the call of God to service in His Church as Priests.

The new Diocesan image for Priesthood (the icon of Christ the Priest) was displayed in the Cathedral for the celebration of the Mass. This icon was blessed by Bishop Robert on the Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. The image shows Jesus who gives us Himself in the Eucharist, Jesus is portrayed wearing priestly vestments close to his heart is St. Cuthbert’s Cross, the symbol of our Diocese. The icon reminds us that Jesus continues to call others to follow Him and lay down their lives in His service as priests.

If you are interested in finding out more about serving the Diocese as a priest the vocations team is there to help you.
