Father Anthony Daley RIP
Father Anthony Daley died at 10.00 pm on Tuesday 30th September 2008 at Holy Cross Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Sunderland. He was 87 years of age. May he rest in peace.
Anthony Daley was born on 1st August 1921 in South Shields. He was ordained at Ushaw College on 20th July 1947 by Bishop McCormack.
Fr Daley’s first appointment was Curate at St William’s, Darlington from September 1947 until July 1950. He then moved to Brooms as Curate until August 1955. His next appointment was at St Joseph’s, Gateshead where he stayed until September 1965. He then moved to St Joseph’s, Sunderland as Parish Priest until October 1990. His last appointment was at Blackhall until August 1998 when he retired.
Fr Daley’s body will be received into St Joseph’s, Paxton Terrace, Millfield, Sunderland on Sunday 5th October 2008 at 7.00 pm with a Service of Reception of the Body (please note there will be no Mass).
Fr Daley’s Requiem Mass is to be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday 6th October 2008 at St Joseph’s, Sunderland. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s, Murton.
Following the burial there will be refreshments at St Joseph’s Social Centre, Millfield, Sunderland.
