Bishop Kevin Dunn - Tributes from Vatican

Tributes have poured in for Bishop Kevin Dunn. Canon Cunningham received the following message from His Excellency Tarciscio Bertone, Secretary of State, at the Vatican:

 

“The Holy Father was deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death of the Right Reverend Kevin Dunn, Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. Grateful of his many years of devoted service as a priest of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, and for his generous dedication to the episcopal ministry in Hexham and Newcastle during the last four years, His Holiness commends Bishop Dunn’s soul to the infinite mercy of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd. As a pledge of peace and strength in the Lord, the Holy Father cordially imparts his Apostolic Blessing to the late Bishop’s family and all those who mourn his passing in the sure hope of the Resurrection." In the letter to Canon Cunningham, His Excellency Archbishop Faustino Sainz Muňoz, the Apostolic Nuncio, also adds:

 

“May I also take this opportunity to offer you and the whole diocesan community my sympathy and the assurance of my prayers at this time."
