COMMUNICATIONS- Messages of Faith

World Communications Day, 5 June, Ascension Sunday

On World Communications Day we pray for communications professionals. The theme this year is ‘Truth, Proclamation and Authenticity of Life in the Digital Age’. The Catholic Communications Network (CCN) provides support for the bishops of England and Wales and the Church more widely in promoting the Gospel through the media, and was responsible for the Church’s media co-ordination of the Papal Visit. There will be a second collection to support CCN’s work. Please help the CCN to promote the Good News through the media, by your prayers and generosity. Parish resources for the day including a newsletter insert, liturgical materials and collection form are available at: www.catholicchurch.org.uk/world-comms-2011

Messages of Faith on Facebook, 5 June 2011

In the week leading up to World Communications Day on 5 June, Facebook users are being encouraged to post ‘Messages of Faith’ on their Facebook walls. The idea is to share photos, videos, words - anything you feel expresses the Gospel message - with your friends. You could post a prayerful reflection, an inspiring song, a sacred place, a pilgrimage journey or simply some words of encouragement. Inspired by Pope Benedict's visit to the UK and his World Communications Day message, the global Catholic community is invited to respond to the Holy Father’s invitation to proclaim the Gospel message through social media. To join in, upload your Messages of Faith to your Facebook profile from 30 May. Share your messages with the 11,000-strong Papal Visit Facebook community at www.facebook.com/papalvisit. Further information is on the Catholic Bishops’ Conference website: www.catholicchurch.org.uk/world-comms-2011
