Pope Benedict has announced a ‘Year of Faith’.
The 'Year of Faith' will begin on 11 October 2012, the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council and also the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The Pope has issued an Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, initiating the Year which states: "We want this Year to arouse in every believer the aspiration to profess the faith in fullness and with renewed conviction, with confidence and hope."
Rome has also given Forty Recommendations for the Year of Faith.
Central to the Year of Faith are the Documents of Vatican ll and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, all of which are recommendations for study during the year.
