Gift Aid Relaunch - Thanks and let’s keep going!

The Diocesan Gift Aid Organiser writes:

Thanks and let’s keep going!
The feedback on the re-launch of the Gift Aid Scheme in parishes on 8th and 9th December is excellent.  Four parishes reported 20 or more new Gift Aid Declarations each in the first few days after the diocesan appeal.

In less than four weeks following the appeal the Gift Aid Office has received nearly 500 new Declarations from 55 parishes and 40% of these parishes have achieved double figures for new Declarations.

It looks as though there will be more to come from the 55 parishes.  Two parishes have sent in over 30 new Declarations each.  If these figures are representative of the whole diocese there will be 1600 new Gift Aid Declarations, an increase of 14% across the diocese and these are conservative estimates.

Parish organisers are also reporting requests for standing orders forms and indications that parishioners are responding to the appeal for an increased level of giving to counteract the 11% drop in the Gift Aid tax reclaim to parishes from 6th April this year.

In the December appeal we asked every taxpaying parishioner to consider joining the Gift Aid Scheme which currently enables parishes to reclaim 28 pence in the pound back on every £1 donated.  (From 6th April the 28 pence will drop to 25 pence.)

Thanks to everyone for the tremendous effort so far and now let’s keep going.  Could we achieve a target of 2000 new Gift Aid Declarations in the diocese?  The Gift Aid AGMs take place in mid-March and there should be a much fuller picture about the outcome of this major diocesan appeal to report in the April edition of the Northern Cross.
