The Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) - a consultative Council for the Bishop.
Report of meetings by the Clerk of the Council:
March 2011
"Work has begun on the Pastoral Plan. Individuals on the Council have taken responsibility for forming groups for feedback on different areas of Pastoral Care.
"Members of the Laity Council have also taken on this task in their own parishes and areas.
"A small working group is looking at formulating the plan itself. They have produced the first stage which is a parish leaflet which it is hoped will be copied for each parishioner giving them information about their parish and who they can contact without ringing the priest. They are now looking at information at Deanery Level."
April 2011
December 2010 and January 2010
"The Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) has been reviewing its statutes and, in line with the Bishop’s plan in taking the diocese forward, has taken on the task of preparing a draft of a Pastoral Plan.
"This will involve groups and parishioners around the diocese and will be facilitated by members of the DPC.
"New members will be needed as those who have served their term to date move on. The Bishop expressed his thanks to them for their services to date.
"Two members of the DPC were elected onto the Strategy Group working with the Bishop on the overall diocesan plan and vision. This is to keep the channels of communication open and to continue to reflect a paradigm of collaboration of clergy and laity - including youth and religious - throughout the diocese.
"It is hoped that this will also result in Pastoral Handbooks at diocesan, deanery and parish levels."
